There are two major English tests for non-English speaking country students who want to study in English speaking countries including England, USA, Australia, Canada. These tests are known as TOEFL and IELTS. TOEFL is from the USA and IELTS is from England. Both tests are official and internationally recognized. Students can take either one to be qualified to enter colleges or universities for their undergraduate or graduate studies in English.
This course is designed for you who wants to prepare and take the IELTS test to be qualified for your degree study. It is developed by an IELTS instructor who has taught IELTS for numerous years at UCF. All components of the test, listening, reading, writing and speaking are intentionally created for you to learn and improve your test taking skills, strategies and techniques while learning the requirements of the test. It will offer you to manage your test time and nervousness successfully.
You will also learn your instructor's valuable personal experience how he studied for the test and passed it the first time he took the IELTS.
Listening strategies will focus on identifying who/what/where/why, as well as spelling words correctly and following explicit directions.
Reading strategies will focus on recognizing main ideas, identifying details, discerning meaning from context, as well as spelling words correctly and following explicit directions.
Writing strategies will focus on identifying and summarizing the most pertinent information found within charts, graphs, or maps in a brief report as well as constructing a well-written academic essay.
Speaking strategies will focus on answering questions in descriptive ways, and speaking on a variety of topics, in addition to using proper grammar and higher-level vocabulary.
